Room Type Rate Change Report
On this page
The Room Type Rate Change Report is the audit trail of the Rate Manager. Every time someone saves a rate for a room type and rate plan, the old and the new value are recorded together with the user and the time. This report lists those changes and shows with an arrow whether the rate went up or down.

Purpose
- Find out who changed a price, when, and from what to what.
- Control rate discipline: unexpected drops (red arrows) are easy to spot.
- Check that a bulk rate update was saved (many lines with the same trigger time).
Who uses it
Revenue manager and general manager (control), owners and auditors (who touched the prices), and support staff investigating "the rate was different yesterday".
About this report on screen
Every report page has an About this report bar under its header (button Explain / Hide). It explains the report in plain words:
- Summary: Every change made to room type rates: before and after, who changed it and when.
- What this report shows: Rate changes per room type and rate type with the previous and the current rate for the room, adults, children and pets, the date the rate is for, the date it was changed and the user.
- How to read it:
- "Previous" is the rate before the change, "Current" the rate after it; the comparison columns show the difference.
- The report is shown page by page; use the pager under the table.
- Good to know:
- Date basis "On Trigger Date" finds changes MADE in the period; "On Date" finds changes FOR stay dates in the period.
- Excel and PDF always contain every row, not only the current page.
Columns explained (the same text shows on the help icon next to a column title):
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Rate Date | The stay date the rate is for. |
| Rate Comparision | Difference between the previous and the current rate. |
| Trigger Date | When the change was made. |
Before you start
- You need the privilege Room_Report_RoomTypeRateChange.
- A change is only recorded when a rate is saved in Rate Manager (or by a channel/CRS rate push). Rates that were never changed have no line.
Step by step
- Click Reports in the left menu (or press Ctrl+K and type the report name). The report library opens at
#/reports. - Choose the category Room Reports (or type in the search box) and click the card Room Type Rate Change ("Rate change history by type"). You can also open
#/report/room-type-rate-changedirectly. - The report opens and runs once with its default criteria, so you already see data. Under Report criteria set From Date, To Date, Rate Type, Room Type, (selector without label) as you need (in a date calendar, Working Date jumps to the current business date).
- Click Show to run it again with the new criteria. The line under Results tells how many rows are shown.
- Choose Rate Type and Room Type if you want one plan or one type (default ALL).
- Choose how the dates are applied in the last selector: On Trigger Date (the day the change was made) or On Date (the stay date the rate is for).
- Use the paging bar at the bottom (Rows 25, 50 or 100, page arrows) to move through the lines.
- Read the result as a Table or as Cards (switch at the top right). Columns shows or hides columns and lets you drag them into another order; click a column title to sort. Hide criteria / Show criteria folds the criteria away; on a tablet or phone it folds by itself after Show and leaves a one-line summary.
- Click Export and choose PDF, Excel or Email (PDF). The button is always in the header but stays disabled until the report has rows.

How to read an example
Filter 16-Oct-2026 to 17-Oct-2026, On Trigger Date, ALL/ALL, on the demo hotel: 44 records on 2 pages. Some lines:
| Room Type | Rate Type | Rate Date | Current Rate | Previous Rate | Trigger Date | User Name | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deluxe Room | RACK | 17-Oct-2026 | 4,000.00 | up | 0.00 | 16-Oct-2026 14:49 | Demo Hotel Owner |
| Standard | RACK | 17-Oct-2026 | 2,500.00 | up | 100.00 | 16-Oct-2026 14:54 | Demo Hotel Owner |
| Standard | RACK | 17-Oct-2026 | 2,750.00 | up | 2,500.00 | 17-Oct-2026 00:35 | Demo Hotel Owner |
| Standard | RACK | 17-Oct-2026 | 2,500.00 | down | 2,750.00 | 17-Oct-2026 00:37 | Demo Hotel Owner |
Read it as the history of the Standard RACK rate for 17-Oct: first loaded on 16-Oct at 14:54 (from 100.00 to 2,500.00), raised to 2,750.00 at 00:35 on 17-Oct, lowered back to 2,500.00 two minutes later, and so on. Lines with the same rate and no arrow are saves without a change.
Common questions it answers
- Who lowered the rate for 25 December, and when?
- What was the Standard rate before the last change?
- Did the bulk update at 17:00 save for all room types?
- Which rate dates were changed today (use On Date to see all changes for a future date)?
Export, print and e-mail
- Excel downloads Room Type Rate Change Report.xlsx. The file contains all lines of the report, not only the page on screen.
- Email (PDF) shows Email sent successfully.
- PDF: Since 19-Oct-2026 the PDF also opens on a property without an uploaded logo. Use Excel or Email (PDF).
- The Excel header date line shows the From Date and To Date you chose.
Troubleshooting
- No record found! Nobody saved a rate in the period. Change the dates or switch to On Date.
- Too many lines. Every save of a rate cell is a line, even with the same value. Filter by room type and rate type.
- A change I made is missing. Check the Trigger Date range (the date and time you saved) and that you did not choose On Date with stay dates elsewhere.
- Lines are not in time order. They are ordered by Rate Date; read the Trigger Date column for the time.
- Adult or child columns are missing. They appear only when those rates exist in the result.
