The Rate Type Report is meant to show how much each rate plan (RACK, Corporate, Weekend Special...) sold in a period: how many rooms, what share of the hotel, the room charges, the total charges and the average daily rate (ADR).

Rate Type Report Oct to Oct 2026

Purpose

  • See which rate plans are used at all and how many rooms each one sold.
  • Compare the ADR of the plans (is Corporate really cheaper than RACK?).
  • Check that discounted plans are not eating the rack business.

Who uses it

Revenue manager, sales manager, general manager and owners.

About this report on screen

Every report page has an About this report bar under its header (button Explain / Hide). It explains the report in plain words:

  • Summary: Room nights, revenue and ADR for each rate type.
  • What this report shows: For each rate type used between From Date and To Date: how many stays used it, the number of room nights, the total room charges and the average daily rate.
  • How to read it:
  • Compare ADR between rate types to see which ones bring in the best price.
  • Rows called "Total" or "Grand Total" are added by the report itself and are highlighted.

Columns explained (the same text shows on the help icon next to a column title):

Column Meaning
# of How many stays used this rate type in the period.
Total Charges Everything charged to the folio.
ADR Average Daily Rate: room revenue divided by the number of room nights sold.

Before you start

  • You need the privilege Room_Report_RateTypeReport.
  • Stays count by rate date, so run it for dates that already have bookings.

Step by step

  1. Click Reports in the left menu (or press Ctrl+K and type the report name). The report library opens at #/reports.
  2. Choose the category Room Reports (or type in the search box) and click the card Rate Type ("Room rate category list"). You can also open #/report/rate-type directly.
  3. The report opens and runs once with its default criteria, so you already see data. Under Report criteria set From Date, To Date as you need (in a date calendar, Working Date jumps to the current business date).
  4. Click Show to run it again with the new criteria. The line under Results tells how many rows are shown.
  5. Read the block of each rate plan: a line with the plan name and a line Total of .
  6. Read the result as a Table or as Cards (switch at the top right). Columns shows or hides columns and lets you drag them into another order; click a column title to sort. Hide criteria / Show criteria folds the criteria away; on a tablet or phone it folds by itself after Show and leaves a one-line summary.
  7. Click Export and choose PDF, Excel or Email (PDF). The button is always in the header but stays disabled until the report has rows.

Filters

Filter Meaning Rules and default
From Date First rate date (night) included. Default PMS date.
To Date Last rate date included. Default PMS date; not before From Date.

Columns

Column Meaning and calculation
(first column, no heading) The rate plan name; on the second line of each block it reads Total of .
No.Of Days The number of days defined for the plan (its No Of Days setting). 1 means a nightly rate.
# of Room(s) Number of room-nights sold on this plan in the period (one for each night of each stay line). Before 19-Oct-2026 this counted different rooms, not nights.
Room Sold(%) # of Room(s) (room-nights) divided by the number of room-day status rows of the property in the period, times 100. It is the share of the room-nights counted by the property for the days up to the PMS date; for dates after the PMS date the divisor is smaller, so the percentage can look high. It is not the occupancy of the period.
Room Charges Sum of the stored nightly rent of the lines of the plan in the period, before tax.
Total Charges Room charges plus the tax on them plus the other charges of the stays of the plan and their tax (each stay's other charges are added once, to the first night of the stay).
ADR Average daily rate = Room Charges divided by # of Room(s) (room-nights).

Totals and grouping

Grouped by rate plan. The block ends with Total of repeating the values of the plan. There is no grand total over all plans.

How to read an example

Filter 16-Oct-2026 to 19-Oct-2026 (after the fix of 19-Oct-2026):

Plan # of Room(s) Room Charges Total Charges ADR
Corporate 1 3,600.00 4,100.00 3,600.00
RACK 57 205,170.00 229,612.00 3,599.47

Read it this way: one room-night was sold on the Corporate plan (3,600.00 of rent) and 57 room-nights on RACK at an average of 205,170.00 / 57 = 3,599.47. Room Sold(%) is not quoted: it divides by the room days counted up to the PMS date, so for ranges that reach into the future it can look very high and is not occupancy. Figures are from the demo hotel on 19-Oct-2026 and change as demo data changes. The money agrees with Revenue By Room Type for the same dates (it also contains the rent of posted no-show/cancel revenue, which this report does not).

Common questions it answers

  • Which rate plans did we really sell in October?
  • How many rooms went out on Corporate?
  • Is a plan used at all (a plan that never appears can be retired)?

Export, print and e-mail

  • Excel downloads Rate Type Report.xlsx with the same lines. The date line in the file header shows the From Date and the To Date you chose.
  • Email (PDF) shows Email sent successfully.
  • PDF: Since 19-Oct-2026 the PDF also opens on a property without an uploaded logo. Use Excel or Email (PDF).

Troubleshooting

  • Numbers differ from Revenue By Room Type. Revenue By Room Type also adds the rent of posted no-show / cancel revenue; this report does not.
  • The report is empty. No rate-date lines exist in the range; run it for dates that have stays or reservations.
  • Room Sold(%) is lower than expected. For ranges the divisor is the room-days of all dates; use a one-day range for a normal percentage.
  • A plan is missing. It was not used in the range.
  • The first column has no heading. That is how the screen is built; the first column always holds the plan name.
