How do I add a room type (Standard, Deluxe, Suite) with its tax and occupancy?
Short answer
Open Property Setup > Room Type, click New Room Type, fill Code and Room Type Name, choose the Tax Name, and Save. Then set guests per room in Room Type Binding And Occupancy.
Steps
- Create the taxes first if the room should be taxed (add a tax).
- Open Property Setup > Room Type and click New Room Type.
- Enter Code and Room Type Name (both required, name unique).
- In the section Tax Details pick the occupancy taxes under Tax Name. Without a tax here no tax is charged on the rent.
- Optionally set Over Booking % (section Room Type Details), Min Rate, Max Rate (Max not below Min) and Room Type Color (section Rates and Look), the options under Other Room Type Details (for example Include in Occupancy) and the Room Type Amenities.
- Click Save.
- To set guest limits, open Property Setup > Room Type Binding And Occupancy, click the room type and fill Max Occupancy, Base Adult / Max Adult, Base Child / Max Child, Base Pet; click Save.
Check the result
The type shows in the list. Defaults for a new type are base adults 2, base children 1, max occupancy 3 until you change them.
Common problems
- Only one active Base Type is allowed (the type other types bind their rates to).
- Max Adult and Child cannot be greater than Max Occupancy.
- Rates outside Min/Max are refused later in the Rate Manager.
- Messages: Property configuration messages.
