Short answer

Room blocks are in Housekeeping > Room Maintenance (button Add Block Room). DNR (Do Not Rent) is a guest flag set in Guest Search or on the folio with the DNR strip button.

Steps

Block a room

  1. Open Housekeeping > Room Maintenance and click Add Block Room.
  2. Choose Building, Floor, Room Type, From Date, To Date and click Find.
  3. Under Tick the rooms to block tick the rooms, then in Block dates and reason type the Remark and click Save. The rooms show as V/Maint. (The dialog is built in three numbered parts: Find the rooms, Tick the rooms to block, Block dates and reason.) Quick way: open the room menu (right-click or long-press) of a vacant room in the Calendar or Register > V/Maintenance. Unblock: in Room Maintenance click the Edit / UnBlock icon of the block, then UnBlock (the room is back on sale at once; Save there only changes the remark). Or use the room menu in the Calendar or Register > Remove V/Maintenance.

Mark a guest DNR

  1. Create the reasons once in Property Setup > CRM & Guests > DNR Reason (New DNR).
  2. Open Guests > Guest Search, find the guest, use DNR on the row, tick reasons and click Save; or on a folio use Do not rent in the list on the left.

Check the result

Blocked rooms leave availability for the dates. A DNR guest is flagged on every new booking (status 2 blocks it, status 1 asks Do you want to continue with this guest.).

Common problems

  • Please enter block remark. Remark is required.
  • Invalid block dates selected. Dates must lie inside the searched range.
  • Room Maintenance menu missing: add the Access to Block Room privilege.
  • Group-wide blocks of inventory are different: group block.
  • Messages: Housekeeping messages.
