How do I add a rate type (rate plan such as Corporate, Weekend, Hourly)?

Short answer

Open Rate Type, click New Rate Type, enter Code and Rate Type Name, pick the period and Save. Then price it in the Rate Manager.

Steps

  1. Open Property Setup > Financial Settings > Rate Type.
  2. Click New Rate Type (hidden without the privilege).
  3. Enter Code and Rate Type Name (unique among active rate types).
  4. Choose the period: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Custom (then type Days).
  5. Tick what applies: Hourly Rate Type (charged per hour), Default, CRS Enable (CRS properties only), Advance Days (guests must book that many days ahead), Kiosk.
  6. Click Save.

Check the result

Rate Type added Successfully. The window stays open for the next one. The system already has RACK, the base rate type.

Common problems

  • Record Already Exist. Duplicate name.
  • You cannot delete the base rate type or one used by an in-house stay or active business source.
  • To make a rate type follow another by a percentage, use Rate Type Binding (page #/setup/rate-type-binding).
  • Messages: Configuration messages.
