How do I create a channel for a team (for example night shift)?

Short answer

Gear, Channels and settings, under New channel type the name, choose who is in it, Create channel. Needs the privilege Manage Communication Channels.

Steps

1. Click the chat button, then the gear (Channels and settings).
2. Under New channel type the Channel name.
3. Choose Who is in the channel: Everyone in the property, People with a role or People with a privilege.
4. For a role type the Role name; for a privilege the Privilege code.
5. Click Create channel.

Check the result

Channel created. appears and the channel is listed with its rule and member count. The members see it in their list under Channels at once. Use Rule to change who is in it and Archive to close it.

Common problems

• The gear is missing. You need Manage Communication Channels (263) or Communication Administration (265).
• The channel rule is not valid. Fill in the role name or privilege code.
• A colleague does not see it: their role does not match the rule exactly.
